How to Remain Motivated at Work Despite Challenges
Date Posted: 09/12/2019
For many people, work is a routine. You clock in day by day, whether you like it or not. Along with the tough challenges and issues you face daily, going to work may become a daunting task at times.
So how do you stay motivated despite the challenges you encounter in the workplace? Read on to find out.
It is important to be conscious of your attitude and to try to maintain a positive disposition
It all begins with your attitude. If you surround yourself with negative vibes, you won’t be motivated to work. If you feel like you’re turning into a negative person, fight it! Read articles on positivity or talk with people (outside work) who you feel may have a positive impact on your attitude.
Give yourself a pat on the back
Celebrate small victories and accomplishments! Consistent, small accomplishments are what big victories are made of, so treat yourself to a nice meal at a fancy restaurant, or buy yourself something you like. It doesn’t have to be expensive, just something to give you a boost for the next set of tasks.
Mentoring
Learn from someone who is more experienced or who has already been through what you are going through. Some people turn to self-help books and make the authors their virtual mentors. A mentor can also be a friend who you look up to or even a teacher from before. Find yourself a mentor who can guide you in your work journey.
Exercise
In addition to making you look and feel good, exercise also helps relieve stress. According to the Mayo Clinic, any form of exercise can act as a stress reliever. So even if you’re not in shape or not an athlete, a little exercise can go a long way in managing stress.
Have a goal in mind, write it down, and update it as you go.
Make sure your goal is specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound.
When you have a goal, it is important to break it down into smaller goals, or “micro-goals.” This will help you to better focus on what you need to do in order to achieve your overall goal. Each day, ask yourself what you can do to move closer to your goal. Each week, ask yourself what you need to do to move closer to your goal. Give yourself credit for each small accomplishment along the way. If you find yourself struggling to make progress, take a step back and strategize. Think about what you can do differently in order to achieve your goal.
It can be difficult to stay motivated at work all the time. However, this is what separates the great employees from the average employees. Some people give up when they encounter a challenge. However, if you persevere and push through the tough times, you will be successful.
Don’t forget to rest!
It’s important to take some time to rest and recharge your batteries so you don’t burn yourself out. Not getting enough sleep will make you less productive and alert, so make sure you get enough rest! And as the saying goes, kapit lang! Remember that there will be great days, and then there will be days that you would feel like giving up. Keep fighting! It builds character.
